The Queenstown Airport Emergency Service (AES) held a graduation parade today to formally welcome the newest member of the team, Elis Davis, who recently completed his Recruit Firefighter training.
Elis is well acquainted with ZQN, having previously worked as part of the airport's operations team and as a manager for Planebiz, handling ground operations.
AES Training Officer Justin Stowell said the parade also acknowledged seven team members who were recruited in 2022-23 and completed their training to become qualified firefighters late last year.
The AES team is highly skilled in aviation rescue and firefighting. Divided into three watches, officers are on site, ready to respond if needed, whenever Queenstown Airport is operating.
AES officers also perform important safety checks and act as first responders to medical incidents at the airport.
